Stylishly Versatile Blogger's Award (Were You Nominated?)

I was recently given this award from two lovely ladies, Sharon and Donna. These ladies share my passion for makeup. This is reflected in their blogs, so please do pay them a visit. I am honored that they think enough of me to have given me the award.

The rules for the award are that if you Accept the award:

1.Thank the person who gave you the award

2. Tell us 7 things about yourself

3. Award 15 other Bloggers

4.Contact these Bloggers and let them know u have nominated them for an award

7 Random things about me

1. I only like Granny Smith & Roma Apples (nuked upside down YUM!)
2. I am a germ-o-phobe.
3. I love babies & little children.
4. I have a green thumb, but not much will grow in my home because it's orientation doesn't allow for much natural light.
5. I haven't played a board game in YEARS! I do however love to play cards occassionally.
6. I can't do a cat eye (liner) to save my life! (Working on it though)
7. I'm pretty gregarious...Random people often approach me in the street & start chatting. I guess my smile is inviting. *laughing*

I am nominating several bloggers.
I respect that not everyone has the time or inclination to participate in such things.
If you decline the award, no worries. (burymeinvelvet)

Playing Around with Pinks on Friday

I did not buy the MAC Pink Friday (Nicki Minaj) lipstick. I did not think it would be flattering on me.
I did not want to jump through hoops to order this item. I understand that as of today, it is still in stock on the MAC website. I wanted to use products in my arsenal to recreate the look.

I opted for flawless foundation,
soft cheeks and a neutral eyeshadow look pumped up with some lashes for drama.

Here is what I used.

Prime Korres Quercitin and Oak (Anti Ageing, Silicone Free)
Foundation - NARS Sheer Glow MACAO
Set with e.l.f. Clarifying Pressed Powder TONE 3 in tzone & TONE 4 for Contouring

Prime Urban Decay Primer
Base MAC Paint Pot SOFT OCHRE (mobile lid only)
Shadow Urban Decay NAKED palette
Highlight Coastal Scents 88 Palette H1
Transition - L'Oreal matte SUEDE BROWN
Crease BUCK
Mobile Lid NAKED and NYX single eyeshadow SKIN
Liner - Wet N Wild H2O Liquid Liner EXTREME BLACK
Lashes - Sassi #747 M

Base L'Oreal HiP Blendable Blushing Cream COQUETTE
Set e.l.f. Natural Radiance Blusher COY and SHY

Prime - Korres Lip Butter GUAVA
Line - NK lip crayon ROSEBLOOM
Fill - NYX lipliner pencils ROSE and BARBIE PINK
Gradient dark to light, exterior to center of the lips.
I blended with my fingers.
The paleness of the blue based pinks was a bit much against my brown skin.
I muted it a bit with some Gloss. Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds RHINESTONE PINK

I was truly inspired by my nail polish.
I used Wet N Wild TICKLED PINK Cream.
I also used Sinful Colors GLASS PINK and
PINK 4 EVER for accent colors.

These treo pictures really don't do the mani any justice.
Too much sun.

I'm not into labels, (really, I'm not!) *laughing*
I got these sunglasses from A.J. Wright for $2.99 on clearance. I bought them more for functionality than anything else. Whatever I can do to combat creasing around the corners of my eyes from squinting to avoid bright sunlight is a plus.
I never leave home without them.
Yes, I even wear them on overcast days.
I'm on my Hollywood Status. *laughs*

I love my nails at this length. I'm going to have to trim them soon.

You can probably see them better in this 4 minute video.
Did you know I have a cooking blog too?

NARS Sheer Glow ($42) is a light to medium coverage product. It is buildable.
I apply it best with my fingers.
This can be messy. However, with a little practice and patience, I have been pleased with the results.
Sometimes it photographs in a weird way. There may be a very sheer appearance or a gray caste.
In person, it starts out kind of gray, but seems to warm up with oxidation.
I have sensitive, combination dry skin. I am oily only in my Tzone. After about four hours of wear, I must touch up my tzone with powder. I will experiment with some mattifying primers soon and update this post accordingly.

I apply my MAC Select SPF ($26) most often with a damp (Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix) Sigma F80 Brush. This is a water based, medium coverage product.
Sometimes it can appear cakey if I don't take my time and apply it without rushing. It dries really quickly.
Because of this, I tend to have a more "made up" appearance.

I'm glad I invested in both foundations.
I cannot wait to try out Make Up Forever HD foundation next.

Do you have either or both of these brands/formulas? Do prefer one over the other?

Face Of The Day (FOTD) - featuring NARS Sheer Glow MACAO

My region is being inundated with seasonal snow, freezing rain, sleet, and ice.
I felt like wearing bright eyeshadow today.
I also wanted a chance to play with my new NARS Sheer Glow foundation.

The foundation sometimes photographs in a weird way.
In person, however, I found it to be really natural. I asked my husband what he thought of my new foundation and he told me he didn't think I was wearing any. Ah yes! Success! That was the effect I was going for. *smiles*

Despite the inconvenience of the inclement weather, I managed to create some sunshine for myself.
It doesn't take much to lift my spirits when it comes to makeup.
