e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner (Review) vs. essence of beauty Extra Gentle Brush Cleaner

e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner $3
8.5 fl. oz (250 ml)

An anti-bacterial daily brush cleanser for quick cleaning in-between makeup applications

Disinfects brushes to provide a fresh and clean application every time

Helps to keep your brushes lasting longer for extended use.

DIRECTIONS

After using your brush, spray several spritzes of cleaner over the brush bristles. Gently wipe the brush onto a clean cloth to remove makeup. Allow brush to fully air dry before next use. Repeat daily or as often as necessary. For best results, use with the e.l.f. Brush Shampoo once a week for a thorough cleansing.

INGREDIENTS

Aqua(Water), Alcohol Denat, Cocomidodopropyl Betaine, Methyparaben

PROS
- a lot of product for the price
- chic bottle can be reused with home made daily brush cleaner

CONS
- smells like peachy-citrus hairspray
- the berth of the spray is really wide. you waste a lot of product. you must spray more than once to really get the brushes clean
- no rinsing required (scary!)
- pkg leaked somewhat during shipping, despite elf's diligent effort to thwart that (shrink wrap)as well as wrapping separately from the other products in my shipment

3 out of 5 stars
not a fan of the hairspray smell, leaky pkg, wide berth of spray

  1. Mine also leaked during shipping. I have a spray bottle I use for my brush cleaner that sprays out the perfect amount of product. The cleaning power of this brush cleaner was awesome. The smell on the other hand was another story. I really don't like that smell at all. I was trying to figure out what I could add to it to change the smell. Other than the smell and the bottle I liked this product.

  2. Vixxan, thanks so much for commenting. :O)
Yeah, that smell was not so great. I was afraid that it would break me out! Seriously, not needed! I ended up rinsing my brushes ANYWAY just to be safe. I think elf is aware of the leaking issue, by the way they pkgd it. Good prod. I haven't tried the MAC brush cleaner yet. That will be my next brush cleaner comparison. Getting mine from the CCO. Not scheduled for that visit til after the New Year.

  3. If you want to save some money on the MAC brush cleaner don't bother buying it. This worked just as good if not better than the MAC Brush cleaner. It took less spray to clean my brushes using this one. The MAC brush cleaner does smell better. Also the homemade brush cleaner on my blog worked better than the MAC brush cleaner. That's $10 that you can spend on your wish list.

  6. You're very welcome for the post. Yes, the EOB is limited to purchase from CVS only. They do have a website, but not sure if they ship to Germany & also, not sure about the guidelines for liquids via mail (customs)???

  7. If you don't like the citrusy smell from ELF brush cleaner you will not like Parian Spirit brush cleaner as well. Parian Spirit is the #1 preferred brush cleaner in the makeup industry. I bought a 16 fluid ounce bottle for $20. I'm not very fond of the citrus smell either. I use Parian Spirit brush cleaner daily despite the unpleasant smell (why not since I paid $20). Every month when I deep clean my brushes with mild soap my brushes are left with a nasty sour smell like oranges gone bad. I believe this is due to the fact that I use Parian Spirit daily- I will not be repurchasing again. Just thought I would share this a little bit of info since we’re on the subject of brush cleaner.
