Someone asked, "If you own the 88 palette, is it worth it to invest in the HiP Matte duos?" Ummmm yeah! LOL I've recently become disenchanted with the staying power of my 88 palette. I do love the colors. But it seems as if they fade after only a couple of hours of wear. The HiP colors seem to have longer staying power & better blend ability.

Advantages over dupes: - The MAC e/s has longer staying power than any of the dupes. However if you use a good base & perhaps even a mixing medium to foil the colors, you may have a similiar effect. - It is really convenient to have all 4 colors in 1 compact container. Minerals are great for our skin & protect us from the harmful rays of the sun.

These eyeshadow duos are very affordable. They range in price from $7 to $9. Many drugstores sell them as Buy1Get1Free (BOGO)specials. They are highly pigmented. They are touted on many makeup discussion boards as MAC dupes. Some choose to depot them to put them all on a palette. I like the packaging. They come with an applicator & a mirror is in the bottom of the case. I don't want to take the chance of shattering my palette.

Last May I was able to pick up two Clearance blushes from CVS for $.89 each. These items are no longer on local pharmacy shelves. I was able to procure the rest of my collection from different sellers on ebay.
Manufacturer suggests applying with fingers. Since it is highly pigmented, a little bit goes a long way. The consistency is superblendable! Most often, I use my e.l.f. foundation brush, or 148 cream brush (auralinebeauty) to apply this foundation. It is awesome for the colder months. However, I have been stacking powder blush on top as of late. They make excellent bases & can actually change the tint of the blush. They make the powdered blush application last longer.
I was excited to receive a gift of MAC Love Alert Dazzleglass from my hubby. Who needs flowers, right? LOL
I nearly DIED when I realized that the finished result could be achieved using a less expensive brand of makeup. Afterall, would anyone really be able to tell the difference?
The MAC Dazzleglass has a pleasant smell, that of vanilla. The consistency is a little sticky. Not nearly as sticky as NARS! (NARS has a tendency to GRAB your hair) I found it necessary to reapply often to maintain the effect of the intensity & vibrancy of the dazzleglass.
Since my lips are quite pigmented, I know that I will have to stain my lips with another lip product or lay down a lip pencil to achieve the look I desire. Worn alone, the dazzleglass is pretty, but it doesn't scream FIYAH!
Other less expensive alternatives include... L'Oreal GlamShine lipgloss $4-$10 (find 'em on ebay) - PLUMPING diminishes base color over x Maybelline Wetshine Diamonds Liquid $1.00 - (overall BEST staying power discontinued RUN to the dollar store!) LA Colors moisturizing lip gloss $1.50 (sheer/too glittery)
